International Day of Older Persons – IDOP Event

International Day of Older Persons is a day of drawing attention to challenge negative stereotypes and misconceptions about older persons in the society. This is the day the elderly persons are celebrated worldwide.

This event will focus on advocating for the elderly care among the communities in accordance to article 57 of the 2010 Kenyan Constitution. The event activities will include

• Medical free medical camp to 300 elderly persons. The check ups and treatments will include.

1. Malaria RDTs
2. Blood pressure
3. BMI
4. Blood sugar
5. Provision of medicine
6. Blood donation (other general public)

• Fundraise towards Let’s All Go Green – LAGG project that will support 40 vulnerable households in terms of sustainable household income initiative in the sub counties of Muhoroni and Nyakach, in Kisumu County
• Donate food items to 300 vulnerable households.
• Donate mattress, blanket and mosquito nets
• Conduct awareness walkathon
• Conduct a blood donation drive among the general public on the event day

Besides providing primary health care, the camp will also contribute to raising awareness amongst the elderly persons informing them about the necessity of adequate nutritious food, clean drinking water, dangers and risks of environmental pollution among others.
