Improved Healthcare, Education, Agriculture and Livelihood - iHEAL Program
We believe that sustainable development can only be achieved by empowering communities to take control of their own destinies. The iHEAL program designed to support vulnerable elderly individuals and their households in Kenya by addressing a range of issues that affect the well-being and quality of life of elderly persons, particularly those who are facing challenges in education, agriculture, and livelihood opportunities. We provide the elderlies and their households with the resources, skills, and knowledge they need to improve their lives and livelihoods.
Through this programs and partnerships, we work to promote economic development, education, and gender equality, and to support the rights and wellbeing of children and youth. By empowering communities to take action and create positive change, we aim to build a brighter future for all.
We develop activities that can mostly be undertaken by the elderly persons. Through this direction, we build advocacy capacity and address stigmatization and promote human rights frame work.
With our beneficiaries in mind, we teach them and support ways of community mobilization and sustaining social movements. We collaborate with community self help groups, area government administrators and the public as we develop community empowerment programs
This Direction is designed to respond to senior citizens’ and their households’ needs to help them make make sound decisions for sustainable economic and social development.

Our Response
There are several actions we take to respond positively to community empowerment initiatives that improve livelihoods. By taking these actions, we ensure support to community empowerment initiatives that improve livelihoods and contribute to sustainable development
We introduce community empowerment initiatives i.e., formation of self-help groups, i.e., microfinance activities
Skills training
We provide skills training and network in group initiatives and increase access to financing options through self-help group micro finance initiatives
Adopt a Village
Develop "Adopt a Village" project to address sustainable community-driven model that addresses the issues of poverty among the vulnerable elderly persons
How we respond
conduct needs assessment
We conduct needs assessments to identify the needs and aspirations of the community. This will helps us determine the most effective ways to support our target groups through the community empowerment initiatives.
provide training & support
Providing training and support is meant to build the capacity of community members to participate in and lead their own development initiatives. This includes training on financial management, project planning and implementation, and leadership and governance.
advocate for policy change
We strongly advocate for policy change that supports community empowerment initiatives and improves livelihoods. This involves engaging with policymakers and other stakeholders to create an enabling environment for community-led development.

As we engage with the community to understand their perspectives, we build trust, and establish partnerships with them. This we do through holding community meetings, conducting surveys, and establishing community-based organizations.

We do facilitate access to resources such as funding, technology, and expertise to support community empowerment initiatives. This involves partnerships with other organizations or government agencies.
monitor & evaluate
As we monitor and evaluate the impact of community empowerment initiatives on the livelihoods of community members, we tracking changes in income, access to resources, and social indicators such as health and education.
Target
- Increase household income:
This will involve supporting income-generating activities such as small business development, microfinance, agriculture, and livestock management.
- Enhancing access to basic services:
This involves improving access to water and sanitation, healthcare, education, and other basic services that are essential for improving livelihoods.
- Strengthening social capital:
This includes building social networks and fostering collaboration among community members to promote collective action and support community-led development.
- Improving food security:
This can involve promoting sustainable agriculture practices, improving access to markets, and supporting livelihood diversification.
- Enhancing resilience to shocks and stresses:
This can involve building the capacity of communities to cope with and adapt to environmental, economic, and social shocks and stresses, such as climate change, economic downturns, and conflict.
Program Outcome
- Increased income and economic opportunities:
Our community empowerment initiatives are tailored help individuals and households to generate income through new businesses, improved agricultural practices, and other income-generating activities.

By improving access to basic services such as healthcare, education, and water and sanitation, our initiatives will improve overall well-being and quality of life.
- Strengthened social networks and community cohesion:
The initiatives foster collaboration and social networks among community members, leading to increased social capital and improved community resilience.

By promoting sustainable agricultural practices and improving access to markets, community empowerment initiatives can help to ensure that communities have access to sufficient and nutritious food.
