Grant selection criteria
Eligibility
- Legally registered Public Benefit Organization operating within our target Counties
- At least 2 years of relevant project implementation experience
- Demonstrated good governance, financial management, and accountability practices
- Adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements for NGOs/CBOs in Kenya
- Uphold principles of transparency, integrity and prevention of unethical/unsafe practices
Commitment to equal opportunities and inclusion of marginalized groups
Project Design
- Clear link between proposed activities and organizational mission/community needs
- Well-defined, specific, and measurable project objectives, outcomes and timeline
- Sustainable solutions and exit strategy for post-funding period
- Project design must include a detailed monitoring and evaluation plan to track implementation progress against measurable outputs and outcomes through both quantitative and qualitative indicators, ensure beneficiary participation, commit to routine data collection and reporting to enable adaptive management, and allow for internal/external evaluation.
Community Engagement
- Strong beneficiary involvement in project design, implementation and oversight
- Targeted approach to addressing needs of vulnerable groups like older populations and women
- Builds local ownership and capacity for community-led development
Value and Impact
- Potential for innovation, cost-effectiveness and replicability of approaches
- Tangible, measurable socio-economic impact for target beneficiaries
- Promotes local environmental conservation and climate-resilience
Partnerships
- Existing or planned collaboration with other stakeholders to enhance project success
- Opportunities for resource mobilization, referrals or scaling of initiatives
Budget and Implementation Plan
- Realistic, well-timed budget linked to planned activities
- Clear monitoring, evaluation and learning components
